Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford Reuniting for Indiana Jones 5

Disney officially announced that director Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are teaming up again for a fifth Indiana Jones movie, which is slated for a July 19, 2019 release.

The studio describes the film as “a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series.” Spielberg, who helmed all the previous films, will be back in the director’s chair, with Ford also reprising his iconic role. Franchise alums Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are also on board to produce.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn referred to Jones’ character as “one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history.” He couldnt be any more thrilled to go on another adventure with Spielberg and Ford.

The first film, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, was released in 1981, followed by 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The third entry, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, opened in 1989, while the last one, Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, came in 2008. These four films have raked in a worldwide box-office gross of nearly $2 billion.
