Scarlett Johansson is a Human-Cyborg Hybrid in First ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Trailer

Scarlett Johansson plays The Major in Ghost in the Shell from Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures in theaters March 31, 2017.

After being placed in hot water due to the controversy surrounding its casting, Paramount and Dreamworks move forward with the release of the beautiful first full trailer of Ghost in the Shell during a live event in Tokyo.

Based on the classic manga and anime series, the film stars Scarlett Johansson as Major Motoko Kusanagia, a soldier with a human mind inside a cyborg body. She leads an elite task force known as Section 9, which aims to stop dangerous criminals and fanatics. However, the team is faced with an unknown enemy hell-bent on wiping out Hanka Robotics’ development in cyber technology.

Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) directs this live adaptation, which also stars Beat Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet, Michael Pitt as Kuze, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, and Kaori Momoi.

Ghost in the Shell opens March 31, 2017.
